Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has announced deployment of police personnel to major highways across the country to crack down traffic offences.
The move comes as part of the Government’s efforts to enhance road safety and curb traffic violations during the reopening of schools for the second term.

Additionally, the CS said measures will be taken to curb overloading, which poses risks to passengers and other road users.
Kindiki Orders Strict Measures on Roads
“This is in addition to the deployment of traffic police officers along critical highways to monitor traffic violations such as speeding, overloading, and use of unroadworthy vehicles,” stated Kindiki.
This includes vehicles with faulty brakes, worn-out tires, or other mechanical issues that could compromise road safety.
Also, he revealed that Security and Intelligence Committees are actively involved in monitoring fragile ecosystems like rivers and dams to mitigate risks to communities and infrastructure.
