A mother of a 23-year-old girl in Mombasa County is seeking justice for her daughter after she was allegedly burnt with hot oil by her boyfriend.
Despite the family’s financial challenges, they had to transfer their daughter to a private hospital to save her life due to the ongoing nationwide doctors’ strike.
Emotionally speaking in a hospital bed, she recalled how she was good-looking before the tragic incident.
“He has destroyed my face. I don’t know where to start from. Even when I get out of here, I don’t know whether I’ll ever heal,” she narrated.
The victim’s mother further revealed that currently her daughter is unable to do anything because of the pain that she is going through.
“Right now, my daughter cannot do any work. Her entire body is hurting,” said the mum.

According to the family, the woman has struggled to get medication after the incident. The family transferred her from Coast General Hospital to Jocham due to lack of service delivery in public hospitals.
The mother further narrated that while at the hospital, she was the one taking care of her daughter under doctors’ instructions.
Woman Exposes Mombasa Doctors
She also disclosed that some of the medical practitioners allegedly refused to attend to her daughter who was in pain.
” She had so much pain and she was crying for the doctor’s help. No one bothered with her,’ revealed the mother.
“But for those who were coming to see her, they were just giving me instructions on how to wash her and take care of her despite being unfamiliar with how to handle a burnt body injury,”

The family is pleading for justice and arrest of the 29-year-old suspect, the victim’s boyfriend who is on the run.
“Please arrest that guy. I am pleading. We are pleading for the government to take action because such cases have really increased,” the family pleaded.
Doctors’ Strike
Notably, the doctors strike entered the third week after the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) sanctioned it.
Medics across the country took to the streets accusing the government of failing to address their concerns which included a demand to post 4,000 interns to medical facilities.
However, Nairobi County medical practitioners reportedly returned to work after Governor Johnson Sakaja ordered doctors working for the Nairobi City County government to go back to work or face the sack.
“I therefore direct that all doctors working for Nairobi City County Government to resume work in their respective duty stations within 12 hours, failing which disciplinary action will be commenced,” ordered Sakaja.
