A Gen Z TikToker going by the username Doitlikeanini went viral on June 18, 2024, after she posted a video urging Azimio Coalition leader Raila Odinga not to turn up for the Finance Bill 2024 protest.
In the video, the lady commended the former prime minister for his previous efforts aimed at fighting for the rights of Kenyans and urged him to rest as the people now represent him in the #occupyParliament demonstrations.
“Agwambo (Raila Odinga) this is a message to you, don’t show up. Don’t come. We saw your efforts okay. We saw everything that you did for Kenyans. Now let us, we miss you but Agwambo please, don’t even come outside. We will come out on your behalf,” she said.
Following the tiktoker’s sentiments, the Azimio leader responded noting that he was proud of the young lady and other Kenyans who turned up to defend their rights.
Additionally, he commended Kenyans for standing against the controversial Finance Bill 2024 by staging protests in Nairobi.
“I’m a very proud father today! Hongera sana to the young lady and all those who bravely stood up for their rights!” he said.

Kenyans Reject the Finance Bill 2024
A section of Kenyans took to the streets of Nairobi on Tuesday, June 18 demonstrating against the contentious Finance Bill 2024.
This time, Kenya’s mode of protest took a different turn. Unlike previous years, where there was a central command or a political party leading the movement, Kenyans led by activist Boniface Mwangi and Hanifa Farsafi came out independently to oppose the bill.
Additionally, a large number of Generation Zs came out to protest having politicians and among other generations cite their courage and bravery despite the perception that Gen Z are lazy.
Anini is among several digital creators who came out to protest the Finance Bill 2024.
Other Influential social media personalities and activists who protested include TMI podcaster Murugi Munyi, Mike Muchiri, Willis Raburu , Boniface Mwangi and Njeri wa Migwi among others.

Kenyans React After Raila Responds to Gen Z
A section of netizens appreciated Anini’s efforts with most comments on her video being congratulatory while others were alerting her that Raila tweeted her video.
Content creator Flaqo commended her actions and observed that the future looked bright.
“Wueh, sisi kama (We the) millennials, we are proudly astonished, Mbele iko chonjo (the future looks good),” he said.
Shadyaa alerted her saying, “Girl, baba just replied on Twitter, he said he is a proud father.”
Following Raila’s response to Anini’s video a section of Kenyans weighed in on the response. Also, popular blogger Gabriel Oguda stated that, “When Baba is happy, we are all happy”.
X user Miruni Herbert appreciated Raila for his tireless efforts to fight for the rights of Kenyans and assured him that his struggles were not in vain.
“Thank you, Baba. Your struggles for democracy & constitutionalism in Kenya was never in vain. Many Raila Odinga’s were born today,” he said.
Sir Ng’ang’a CRS stated that, “His spirit has multiplied. Kenyans have gained informed political consciousness.”
