Citizen TV’s Swahili news anchor Lulu Hassan and senior political affairs reporter Stephen Letoo have been recognized as East Africa’s top media personalities.
The journalists were awarded at the prestigious Consumer Choice Awards 2025.
Lulu and Letoo won in the Most Preferred Female and Male Mainstream Media Presenters of the Year categories at an awards gala held in Nairobi on Saturday, March 29, night.
Lulu Hassan, known for her eloquence and unmatched storytelling in Swahili news broadcasting, has been a household name, delivering compelling reports and anchoring Nipashe Weekend alongside her husband, Rashid Abdalla.

Lulu and Letoo Speak after Receiving the Award
She took to social media to appreciate her fans for their support and votes, saying that she does not take it for granted.
“Honored to have received this accolade by Consumer Choice Awards 2025, as the most preferred and professional Female Mainstream Media Presenter of the year in Kenya,
“And, my colleague, little brother and friend Stephen Letoo, becomes the most preferred and professional Male Mainstream Media presenter of the year in Kenya. Thank you so much,” stated the journalist.
However, at the event, Lulu’s award was received by Citizen TV journalists as she was away on official duty.
On the other hand, Stephen Letoo, a prominent political affairs reporter, has gained a reputation for his in-depth analysis and reporting.
“I am happy and glad to Citizen TV, my employer, for giving me the platform to shine, and I ask that you keep watching Citizen TV,” said Letoo as he received his award.
Other top brands were recognized during the event for their service to their customers.
