Maliti withdrew his bid for Machakos’s top seat and instead endorsed Wiper Party’s Wavinya Ndeti.

Accordinf to Maliti his action will defeat conspiracy by enemies of the people of Machakos planning to undermine the will of the people.
“I have decided to walk with my sister Wavinya and I am sure she is the best leader for Machakos. I want to assure her of my support and that of my supporters,” he stated.
Nonetheless, Maliti’s move dealt a second blow to the Kenya Kwanza coalition in a new wave of defections – with just a few days to the August 9 General Election.
