Police are investigating an incident where a 45-year-old man killed his mother before committing suicide in Kiambu County.
The man identified as Simon Kimani, is said to have pushed his 75-year-old mother into a well before jumping into the same well.
Kimani is believed to have committed the heinous act following a dispute over the beliefs and practices of a religious organization he had joined.

Additionally, another resident said they did not understand why the two fell into the well.
Efforts by a team of rescuers from the Fire and Rescue in Kiambu county to save the individuals were fruitless.

Further, the neighbors confirmed that the two have been arguing about the doctrines of Kimani’s new religion.
“There were disagreements because he joined a misleading religious group that and the mother had problems with that,” said one neighbor.
According to neighbors and family members, the said controversial beliefs that triggered arguments between included practicing female genital mutilation (FMG) and polygamy.
In addition, the neighbors said the mother was against these beliefs and warned Kimani against his new religion.
