Police are investigating an incident where a 45-year-old man killed his mother before committing suicide in Kiambu County.
The man identified as Simon Kimani, is said to have pushed his 75-year-old mother into a well before jumping into the same well.
Kimani is believed to have committed the heinous act following a dispute over the beliefs and practices of a religious organization he had joined.
“Today we have witnessed a sad incident where a mother was thrown into a well by his son,” said one of the residents.
Additionally, another resident said they did not understand why the two fell into the well.
Efforts by a team of rescuers from the Fire and Rescue in Kiambu county to save the individuals were fruitless.
“We received a call at around 3pm that there are bodies in a borehole in this area,” an expert from the Fire and Rescue team.
Further, the neighbors confirmed that the two have been arguing about the doctrines of Kimani’s new religion.

“There were disagreements because he joined a misleading religious group that and the mother had problems with that,” said one neighbor.
According to neighbors and family members, the said controversial beliefs that triggered arguments between included practicing female genital mutilation (FMG) and polygamy.

In addition, the neighbors said the mother was against these beliefs and warned Kimani against his new religion.
Woman Beheaded in Mombasa
Elsewhere, police are investigating the death of woman who was murdered, and her body dumped in a thicket Shanzu area, Mombasa County.
The body of the woman, who has not been identified, was taken to the Coast General Hospital Mortuary.
“The body was found by herdsmen who went into the bush to look after their flock. When they informed us, we came and found a beheaded woman,” said Francis Ngala, Bodaboda Chairman.

Further, Ngala said the owner of the bush should clear it or build walls around it adding that it has claimed the lives of many people.
“This incident has really shocked us, this was just a young lady and they killed her and went with her head,” said Floriya Eliya, Shanzu resident.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the murder was done elsewhere, and the body transferred into the scene for dumping.
Police have promised to beef up security in the region as locals decried the rise of insecurity cases.
