The X account belonging to Scophine Aoko Otieno, popularly known as Maverick Aoko has been deactivated after Kenyans raised concerns about the identity of the person operating it.
Aoko returned online on November 8, 2024, after she went missing for close to ten days.
Aoko last tweeted on October 22, before she went missing. She was later found at the Kenya-Tanzania border on November 1.
Kenyans on X have still raised questions about the whereabouts of the social media influencer.
Aoko has not posted a video or a photo since she was reportedly found, and this has continued to raise concerns amongst Kenyans on X
“Maverick Aoko deactivated her account,” a user named Val said.
Another user, by the name Dr. John Njenga Karugia PhD said the person who was operating the account decided to deactivate it.
“Aoko’s TwitterX handle has been deactivated i.e. @AokoOtieno_ by whoever was trying hardest and failing horribly at tweeting like Aoko,” he wrote.
X user ‘I am Chege’ said he/she was trying to find out what was going on after noticing that Aoko’s account had been deactivated.
He later said that Aoko is safe having confirmed with a politician who is her close friend.
“Popular Blogger Maverick Aoko deactivates her X account after allegations that she is not the one who has been tweeting,” said a user by the name Edgar.
Is She Still Missing?
Other users still maintained that Aoko is still missing and is not the person using the deactivated account.
A user named Payas said, “Aoko has been missing since she went missing. We might never see or hear from her ever again.”
Dr. Mumbi Seraki said the deactivation comes after Kenyans and even Artificial Intelligence confirmed that Aoko as not the person using her X account.
“So ‘Aoko’ has deactivated her account after thousands of Kenyans and chatGPT confirmed they were not her. Where is Aoko?” Mumbi asked.

Demand for Confirmation Photos
Lawyer Sophie Orenge said the move was off and demanded that Aoko posts a picture of herself.
“Very off! Aoko, we need to see your picture with today’s newspaper date,” Orenge said.
Another user by the name Koudi Boi demanded that Kenyans should be told about Aoko’s whereabouts especially after her account was deactivated.
“Aoko’s account deactivated. There’s a lot we need to be told matters her whereabouts,” the user wrote.

User Accuses Aoko of Clout Chasing
However, a user by the name Moha 254 accused Aoko of using her absence to attract public attention.
Moha 254 said Aoko was using state agencies, top government officials and media house to clout chase.
“I came to understand Aoko is an attention seeker! From Kenyan border to now deactivating her account. Clout chasing using state agencies like DCI, top government officials Like and National Media Group,” Moha 254 claimed.
