Questions have been raised about the identity of the person operating the X account of social media influencer Scophine Aoko Otieno, popularly known as Maverick Aoko since she returned online on November 8, 2024.
She went missing for close to ten days before he was reportedly found at the Kenya-Tanzania border on Friday, November 1.
Aoko’s last tweet was posted on October 22, before she went missing and Kenyans on social media raised a lot of speculations.
“She’s been found at the Kenya-Tanzania border. Her family was called by a hospital. She was taken there by an unidentified person who said they found her outside their gate,” the aide posted on Aoko’s X account.
Aoko returned to social media on November 8, stating that the person who had been posting on her account had her unreserved permission and that of the family.
She explained that her aide normally changes the passwords whenever she goes missing or is unreachable hence the accounts are safe.
“Your mistrust is justified, the scepticism is valid given we are dealing with a fiendish regime that knows no bounds I however assure you; they got me but not my account,” Aoko wrote on X.
Questions About Maverick Aoko X Account
However, Kenyans on X have still raised questions alleging that the individual operating the account is not Aoko.
User Lil Sosho said Aoko’s tweets have been different ever since she returned after going missing.
“Believe me your tweets are not the same,” Sosho said.
Another user, Frankology, noted that the operator was trying to roast other users like Aoko, but it was not coming out right.
“Trying to roast how she does but still unauma je (you are missing it),” the user wrote.
Other users also singled out a tweet asking for financial support arguing that Aoko has never asked for money.
“This is not Aoko! She has never accepted kuchangiwa (contributions),” Gael Auda said.
“Contributions she wouldn’t actually,” Wangui Macharia added.
Another user by the name 237KiD mentioned that something is not adding up while Notorious Henrie maintained that the new handwriting is still in doubt.

Users Demand for Photo, Video or X Space
There is also a group of X users who demanded that Aoko post a photo or a video to tell the public that she is the one operating the account.
“This doesn’t sound like you, a picture or anything,” Daisy Ndemo said.
Other users also suggested that Aoko should post a video or hold an X space to address his followers.
“We need you to share at least one video of yourself to show that this isn’t kafament,” Ferry Hawks added.
“Weka space tumalize hii maneno (Hold space so we can finish this matter),” UTDchemosi tweeted.

Messenger to Aoko’s Home
A user named DCI Thika said the public should be informed about the whereabouts of Aoko.
Ionut Nanus said someone should be sent to Aoko’s home to confirm that she is safe.
“We need to send someone to Aoko’s home to verify she is safe failure to that we can’t believe this is her,” Ionut nanus said.
Another user Arwas claimed that someone might have hacked Aoko’s account.
Bribery or Impersonation
On the contrary, Yvonne stated that either Aoko was bribed, or she was not the person operating her account.
“Either ulilipwa ama we sio Aoko,” Yvonne said. This translates to “Either you have been paid or you are not Aoko.”
Rigathi Gachagua Junior argued that the person wasn’t Aoko stating that she wasn’t answering some questions on her X account.
