Members of the Meru County Assembly now say that they are ready to hold peace talks with governor Kawira Mwangaza to establish unity between the executive and the county assembly.
The peace talks meeting is set to be chaired by deputy president Rigathi Gachagua
Moreover, Meru Majority Whip Jim Muchui stated that they are following a directive issued by the deputy president to settle the disagreements within the county assembly.
The reconciliatory efforts are to allow for service delivery to Meru residents.
Likewise, Muchui reported that they have already formed a committee of members who will represent them in the negotiating table where they seek to debunk how issues facing county residents will be addressed.
“We are ready for a dialogue and the committee will be sitting down so that now they can be able to address issues that are of concern to us and the people of Meru,” Muchui said.

The Meru Count Assembly majority whip further noted that their main focus is to see Meru absorb allocated funds before the end of the financial year. Adding that they are already behind schedule on development due to the internal wars between leaders.
“We want this issue to be concluded as fast as possible because we are already late and some of the money should have been spent by now and we want to take as little time as possible because we want people to benefit from the funds,” he noted.
Nonetheless, Meru Minority Leader Mwenda Ithili noted that Governor Mwangaza still needs to change her attitude and Language towards other leaders.
Mwenda argued that unity will be good for the posterity of Meru’s growth.
“All we want is for the governor to change how she used to address us because with that in place, we will be ready to work with her. All we want to do is to serve our people.”
