A Form-Two student who was about to undergo Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Naira Sarisa, Narok county on Wednesday, August 3 was rescued by Detectives from the Child Protection Unit.
The minor allegedly contacted her principal after she found out that her parents plan to force her to undergo the procedure.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the head girl notified the DCI about the situation, hence prompting an investigation.
“Through a phone call, she immediately alerted her school head girl who was with her parents in Thindigua, Kiambu County, about the evil plans hatched by her parents,” the DCI wrote Thursday, August 4.
Moreover, the DCI reported that they dispatched a team to Narok to rescue the minor from FGM immediately after the head girl called them.

Furthermore, the minor was moved to a safe house, where she will stay until further notice.
Meanwhile, her parents were arrested and are currently held in police custody to assist with the investigation.
