Mother Narrates Moments Before Daughter Went Missing
Ann Aluoch, the mother of Under-20 National Women’s Team Captain Jane Hato, had earlier shared moments before her daughter went missing.
Speaking to the press on August 15, Ann recounted the last time she saw her daughter before her disappearence.
However, Jane declined and chose to take a motorbike instead.
“I told her to take an uber because she had heavy luggage. They had carried a lot of equipment belonging to the Kenya police, she told me that she was okay and that she will take a motorbike that she was used to. I told her that it was okay, and I didn’t see her off, I remained home with the youngest child,” Ann said.
Additionally, Ann remembered urging her team to wait for Jane while she tried to reach her by phone, but her calls went unanswered.
“I started calling her, at first, her phone was going through, but no one was receiving it. So, we thought that she was getting a bit late, so I told them to wait for her for about fifteen minutes before they left,” she added.

Jane Hato’s teammates also revealed that they asked Hato to take an Uber to the pickup station, but she declined, mentioning that she needed to stop somewhere first.
Later, when the police began questioning Ann about Jane’s whereabouts, she reached out to everyone, including Jane’s teammates, but none of them had seen her.
Ann also mentioned that Jane’s phone was turned off at 10 PM, but around 11 PM, it kept switching on and off.
“So, police were also questioning me on her whereabouts, I called everyone including her teammates, but they told me that they had not seen her, last they told her to take one uber, but she said that she was passing by somewhere,” Ann disclosed.

Following Jane’s sudden disappearance, her mother filed a missing person’s report with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
However, while still at the DCI, she received a call revealing her daughter’s alleged location.
“It was last switched off at 11pm at Juja. So that is what we heard that. I have arrived at the DCI headquarters to file my report. So, the latest information that I have heard again is that I was called while still at DCI that she is being located at Isebania Migori in a hospital called Nyayo,” she said.
