Nominated Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Kipchumba Murkomen has sent a heartfelt apology to Kenyans after President William Ruto nominated him to cabinet.
In a statement on July 24, Murkomen noted that upon deep reflection over the last two weeks, he has resolved to apologize to Kenyans who he may have offended in any way.
“The last two weeks have been moments of deep reflection. I would like to unreservedly apologize to every Kenyan who I may have offended through my words, my deeds and my conduct, including my lifestyle, in the last two years of my public service,” stated Murkomen.
He went ahead to express his gratitude to President Ruto for giving him a chance to serve the people of Kenya.
“Honored and grateful to have been nominated by President William Ruto as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports,” he said.
In addition, he promised to serve the people of Kenya with dedication, humility, and a strong sense of responsibility, if approved by Parliament.
Ruto’s News Cabinet
Murkomen’s remarks comes hours after President William Ruto on July 24 unveiled the composition of his new Cabinet following the dismissal of the former cabinet on July 11, 2024.
Speaking during his state of the nation address at State House Nairobi, Ruto announced the nomination of several individuals who were part of his previous cabinet.
Some of the CSs renominated to Ruto’s cabinet include Kipchumba Murkomen, SAden Duale, Rebecca Miano, Soipan Tuya and Alfred Mutua.

“In my last address to the nation, I undertook to consult abroad spectrum of stakeholders from all sectors in order to constitute abroad based government,” said Ruto.
“I will be forwarding additional names to the National Assembly for vetting prior to appointment based on the understanding of the cabinets essential role in driving the transformational agenda that makes Kenya a better, more just and more prosperous nation for all of us,” he added.

Alfred Mutua has been retained as the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Labor and skills development.
Rebecca Miano who previously served as the Trade & Industry CS before she was sacked effective July 11, 2024, has been nominated to the Ministry of Tourism.
Additionally, Soipan Tuya has been re-nominated to the Ministry of Defense taking over from Adan Duale who has been nominated to Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry.
Former Attorney General Justin Muturi has been nominated to the Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development.
Further, the head of state stated that once formed, the new cabinet will oversee the government’s reform plan, which includes providing effective and efficient public services while boosting prospects for employment and wealth creation.
