Kenya is set to host the second edition of the International Relations Society of Kenya (IRSK) annual conference. The event is set to take place from the 20th to the 22nd of November 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.
The event will be hosted by The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the International Relations Society of Kenya (IRSK), the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD), and the African Centre for the Study of the United States (ACSUS) at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Theme of the conference
The theme for this year’s annual conference is titled “Fostering Integration and Cooperation in the COMESA Region through International Relations and Diplomacy”. Through a press release, IRSK stated that the conference aims to make a meaningful stride in promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the COMESA region.

The event aims to bring together key stakeholders, diplomats, government officials, scholars, business leaders, media, policymakers and civil society groups from the COMESA region and beyond. The three-day event will entail Keynote speeches, roundtable discussions, book launches and research presentations. The event endeavours to foster collaboration as well as facilitate knowledge sharing among participants.
Number of participants
IRSK anticipates hosting about 200 participants from over 30 countries. These participants will entail seasoned experts and emerging voices from international relations and diplomacy.

The main aim of the conference is to survey the possible solutions to the challenges and conflicting priorities that the COMESA region is facing. It anticipates that the outcome of the conference will be wholesome and inclusive.

The outcome of the conference will be converted into actionable strategies and policies in a bid to pave the way for a more integrated and prosperous COMESA region.
