There was drama at the home of the late Malava Member of Parliament, Malulu Injendi, when a group of youths attacked Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Sunday March 2.
Chaos erupted as Governor Natembeya was addressing residents who had gathered at the late MP’s home.

A rowdy group of youths disrupted his speech, chanting pro-President William Ruto slogans and accusing Natembeya of opposing the government.
The situation escalated as the youths grew louder and more aggressive, demanding that Natembeya stop speaking.

Natembeya Attacked by Goons While Addressing Mourners
They moved closer to where the governor was standing, prompting his security team to act swiftly.
Natembeya was quickly whisked away and escorted to his vehicle as the crowd grew more hostile.

Amid the chaos, some local residents jeered and hurled objects at Governor Natembeya and his entourage as they made their exit, fleeing from the unruly crowd of youths.
However, the Trans Nzoia Governor, in a statement posted on his Facebook account on Monday, March 3, denied reports claiming that he was chased away from Malulu Injendi’s home, despite numerous videos showing him being escorted away by a group of youth.
“No one can chase me out of my own turf. Stop this desperate propaganda,” Natembeya said.

On his part, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa urged politicians and residents not to cause chaos at the funeral of the deceased MP, reiterating that the late MP was a peaceful person.
“Honorable Malulu was a person who loved peace. From today until the day after tomorrow, we want the funeral of the honorable MP to be a dignified one. We do not want any chaos here.
I want to ask all the people of Kakamega—we must demonstrate tolerance. We do not want anyone to cause trouble here because the honorable MP stood for peace,” Fernandes Barasa pleaded.
Until his death, Malulu Injendi was a Member of Parliament for Malava Constituency for three consecutive terms and was serving as the Vice Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Education in the National Assembly of Kenya.
He will be buried on Tuesday, 4th March 2025 at his ancestral home in Lugusi Village, Malava Sub County.
Chaos Erupts at a Funeral in Kakamega
For a while, political scores have been settled in funerals to the extent that chaos has erupted with supporters of the politicians of opposing sides trying to settle political scores.
Several people were injured on Saturday, February 8, 2025, when supporters of the politicians clashed at the burial of Augustine Odongo, a prominent businessman and former Chief from Mumias, while mourners were forced to flee for their safety.

The funeral turned violent when supporters of Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa clashed. This confrontation led to multiple injuries and forced the family to hasten the burial process.
