The death probe of City Lawyer Mbobu Kyalo has taken a new twist after police arrested three people, including a man who had lunch with him moments before he was shot.
Among those arrested is KANU Secretary General George Wainaina. The three are being held in connection with the killing of the lawyer, who was gunned down along Magadi Road in Nairobi on the evening of September 9, 2025.
Wainaina and the two others were first questioned on Thursday, September 11, 2025. They are currently being held at different police stations in Nairobi as detectives continue to gather evidence of the brutal murder of the city lawyer.

On Friday, September 12, 2025, members of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) held a nationwide “Purple Ribbon March” to honor and demand justice for Kyalo Mbobu.
The peaceful procession symbolized solidarity within the legal fraternity, grief over Mbobu’s death, and a call for accountability amid rising concerns about violence against advocates. Participants wore purple ribbons, carried banners and placards, and chanted demands for the arrest of those responsible, stressing that no one—regardless of status—should be above the law.
Autopsy Reveals Lawyer was Shot 8 Times
Earlier, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor revealed that City Lawyer Mbobu Kyalo died from excessive bleeding and severe injuries.
The autopsy indicated that Mbobu was shot eight times, with two bullets recovered for ballistic analysis, including one lodged in his left arm.
Oduor explained that the gunshots caused severe bleeding from neck vessels and spinal injuries, while the chest cavity remained intact. Gunpowder burns, or “tattooing,” were observed on the skin, particularly under the chin, indicating that the shots were fired at close range.

The pathologist further noted that the pattern of injuries suggested the shooting was deliberate and aimed at lethal points.
“Upon examining the body, we found that he was shot a total of eight times, with most of the gunshots coming from the right side of the body. We were able to recover two bullets, which have been handed over to the investigating officer for ballistic analysis. He suffered severe bleeding due to injuries to the neck vessels, as well as spinal injuries. These injuries were severe enough to cause death, with both spinal and neck injuries contributing to significant blood loss,” Oduor said.
