United States (US) President Donald Trump is considering banning citizens of several countries from entering the United States.
According to a report by Reuters, President Trump is considering restricting 41 countries from entering the US.

In the memo, the countries are divided into three distinct groups.
It is reported that a complete ban on visas would be imposed on the top 10 nations in the first group, which includes Iran, Syria, Cuba, North Korea, and Afghanistan, among other countries.

Additionally, the memo states that five nations—Myanmar, Haiti, Eritrea, Laos, and South Sudan—would face partial suspensions in the second category, affecting students, tourists, and other immigration visas, with some exceptions.
According to the memo, countries in the third category—including Belarus, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan—may face partial visa suspensions if their governments fail to address deficiencies within 60 days.

However, the list may change, according to a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity to Reuters, and the government, including U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has not yet given its approval.

The move comes after President Trump issued an executive order on January 20 which mandated more thorough security screening of foreign nationals applying for entry into the United States in order to easily identify security threats.
“By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) (8 U.S.C. 1101 et seq.) and section 301 of title 3, United States Code, it is hereby ordered,” said President Trump.
US President Past Crackdowns on Illegal Immigrants
The US president crackdown on illegal immigrants did not start recently.
During his first term as US President, Trump in 2018 enforced a “zero tolerance” policy that led to the separation of thousands of children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Earlier in his first term, Trump issued an executive order banning travel from several predominantly Muslim countries.
Since returning to office in 2025, President Trump has introduced a series of measures within the U.S. government, including freezing U.S. aid channeled to other countries.
