President William Ruto and several Cabinet Secretaries have made state appointments to leadership positions within their dockets.
In a gazette notice dated Friday, July 18, 2025, the executive top brass made several appointments to various government boards and commissions.
President Ruto has reappointed Feisal Abass as the Chairperson of the Privatisation Commission for a period of three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5(1)(a) of the Privatization Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, reappoint—Feisal Abass to be the non-executive Chairperson of the Privatization Commission, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 18th July, 2025.
Dated the 18th July, 2025,” read part of the notice.

Meanwhile, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has reappointed Professor Shem Wandiga as the Chairperson of the Council of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology for a period of three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36(1) of the Universities Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints—under paragraph (a)—Shem Wandiga (Prof) as the non-executive Chairperson of the Council of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 18th July, 2025.

On his part, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes, Geoffrey Ruku, has appointed Lewis Nyaribo Oburu as a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management Council, representing Nyanza and Western Region, for a period of three years, effective July 18, 2025.
Former MP Reappointed by Water CS
Additionally, the Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, Eric Muuga, has made three reappointments to the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority, including former Member of Parliament for Sigowet-Soin, Bernard Kipsengeret Koros.
Other members reappointed by the Water CS include Simon Ngugi Mwihaki and Rodgers K. Chepkwony.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 14(1)(f) of the Water Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation reappoints—Bernard Kipsengeret Koros, Simon Ngugi Mwihaki, and Rodgers K. Chepkwony to be members of the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 18th July, 2025,” read the notice.
