Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has offered his support to President William Ruto’s initiative of planting tress across the country.
Speaking to the press alongside Bishop John Odera of the Legio Maria church in Kariobangi, Nairobi, Njenga stated that Ruto’s initiative to conserve the environment and avert climate change was good progress for the country.
The Azimio supporter also pleaded with Kenyans to remain patient despite the high cost of living adding that he believed the ongoing bipartisan talks would be fruitful.
According to Njenga, the talks would address all the concerns and pain points of Kenyans urging them to be patient.
“The country is struggling because of the high cost of living but we will stabilize. I know that getting a passport or an ID card is difficult, but we should remain patient. Everything will work out.
“We also want the people to know that the bi partisan talks going on at the Bomas of Kenya will bear fruits and something very good will come out of it,” he stated.

Reason for Support to Government
Additionally, Njenga explained that it was important the country moved forward despite disagreements about the elections results.
According to him, giving support to elected leaders was vital if Kenyans desired a better life and country.
“If we elected this government, let us give time to them to see the results. I did not support this government but now that it was chosen, we cannot have people saying it’s not the right way,” he noted.

Njenga on the Church and Peace
At the same time, the former Mungiki leader and bishop announced that he was on a mission in collaboration with the church to preach peace across the country.
According to Njenga, the love of Jesus Christ was sufficient for all Kenyans and would ensure that the people remained peaceful amid the tough times.
“We have spoken and have decided that we will preach peace throughout the country through the church.
“We will make sure that the peace of Jesus Christ is preached throughout the country and even Africa, if possible,” he added.
