Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has slammed Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, saying the people preferred Kithure Kindiki as President William Ruto’s running mate.
Maina Njenga claimed DP Gachagua was chosen for the post because of his financial superiority.
“Rigathi was picked to deputize the President because he has money. The people wanted Kindiki,” he claimed while appearing at a local TV station.
Maina Njenga was referring to President William Ruto‘s last minute choice of running mate to replace the current Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior Kithure Kindiki during the 2022 general elections.
While giving the reason for his selection then, President William Ruto stated that he had chosen Rigathi since he is a prayerful man who is also concerned with the plight of Kenyans.

“I would like to ask these people who sent him out of the country, especially when important guests are coming, why do that?” Njenga posed.
He noted that DP Gachagua’s presence had been critical since he had previously referred to himself as the son of the Mau Mau.
Furthermore, Njenga added that the second in command would have asked the questions that were being posed in the grassroots, such as the demands for apologies from the King.
Nonetheless, Maina Njenga’s sentiments come at the backdrop of the Royals visit to the country on the 31st of October when DP Gachagua was in Germany.
Further, Kenyans took to social media creating hilarious photoshopped images of the deputy president peeking through statehouse windows as the King greeted President William Ruto and Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi.

Maina Njenga also noted the tough economic times warning Kenyans that there were tougher times to come.
“The sugar prices will never go down,” Maina Njenga said, stating that he did not blame the Ruto government.
On this, he said that the economic issues would continue under the incumbent government or future governments. Therefore, he urged Kenyans to prepare accordingly for future tough times.
