Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, chaired a cabinet sub-committee meeting at his official residence in Karen on Wednesday, November 1. However, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria was not in attendance.
CS Kuria’s lack of attendance elicited different reactions from netizens as they wondered why he failed to attend the crucial meeting.
Taking to his official X account, Moses Kuria revealed that he appeared before the senate Wednesday morning to answer questions on the working conditions of the ministry’s officers in various parts of the country.
“Currently appearing before the senate to answer questions from the honorable senators on the working conditions of our officers in different parts of the country,” he noted.
Moreover, Kuria noted that the government is responsible for ensuring all parts of the country are equally developed and all civil servants feel appreciated to deliver services to Kenyans.
Also, the CS informed the senate that he will provide a cabinet memo to address the disparity across the country as some regions that had been declared hardship areas have since developed.

Some parts of the country that were earlier classified as hardships areas have since developed while others need to be gazette,” Kuria stated.
Further, CS Kuria outlined the idea of reengineering the National Youth Service (NYS) around four pillars including paramilitary training, discipline, vocational and technical skills, as well as commercialization.
The public service CS emphasized the need to make NYS the entry point for public servants.
“Our vision is to ensure that NYS becomes the largest producer of food for both local and export and that it becomes the entry point for public servants,” he added.
Gachagua’s Meeting
During the cabinet sub-committee meeting, DP Gachagua assessed the government development programs and was brought up to speed on different ongoing projects and programs.
According to The DP the meetings were critical in the execution of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

“For a People-centered implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, through inter-ministerial strategic consultations and review of decisions, this is crucial,” he stated.
Also, he noted that the meetings helped make timely adjustments.
“It allows us to make necessary and timely adjustments for effective and efficient service delivery,” he added
This comes after Gachagua’s arrival back to the country on Tuesday night from a weeklong visit to Belgium and Germany.
