Mary Biketi has set the record straight after she made headlines following speculations of her relationship with former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
In a media interview, Mary Biketi stated that the leaked images of her and the former governor while enjoying each other’s company were personal, adding that she did not share them with the public as alleged.
According to her, she would not put Oparanya in that position explaining that their families were gravely affected by that kind of negative publicity.
Further, Biketi noted that Oparanya was a polygamous man and she respected him and his other wives.
“He is a polygamous man and I respect the other wives. No one has attacked me, he is a respectable man so I wouldn’t want to expose him out there but because the photos are out there already, there is nothing I can do.
“I don’t need to explain myself. I know myself and the relationship I am in. Those who want to talk will still talk,” she said.

Mary Biketi Announced Next Cause of Action
Additionally, she said that they will be taking legal action against the individuals who leaked the images.
Biketi lamented that the images had caused extensive damage to the family of Oparanya and his other wives and their children. Also, she said that her family including her parents were affected by the leaked images.
However, she refused to comment on the status of her relationship with the former governor, insisting that she wanted to keep their private lives to themselves.
“We are following up on the person who leaked the photos. It has caused a lot of damage, it has affected my parents and family, him and his political life and his other wives and kids, but we will get over it,” added Biketi.
Oparanya’s Earlier Statement
Earlier, the former governor issued a statement through a video, asking those spreading fake news on the state of his health to stop. He added that he had a family to protect and did not understand the interest others had in his private life.
Also, he said that the photos were genuine and that he was healthy and doing well.
“Those are very genuine photos; I don’t know why someone would take their time to circulate them. Those photos were leaked, and I don’t know the interest.
And there is now fake news that I am in hospital and that I am sick. I have a family to protect so those who are spreading the news should stop,” Oparanya stated.
