Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko was on Monday April 29 forced to intervene and rescue controversial blogger Andrew Kibe from an angry mob in Nairobi during a TikTok live session at a restaurant along Ngong Road.
The incident unfolded when a group of angry youth believed to be from Kibra, stormed the club and confronted Kibe expressing their displeasure over his controversial statements about Sonko on social media.
In a video clip seen by The Kenya Times, Sonko is seen calming down the rowdy youth as Kibe watches the situation from a far.
During the incident, one youth can be heard telling Kibe to leave the former governor alone.
Sonko is then seen escorting the youth from the premises as the youth hurl insults at Kibe.
Additionally, they explained to Sonko that they had learnt of the interview from Kibe’s social media accounts and urged the former governor to eject Kibe from the premises.

Background of the Confrontation
The confrontation was a result of a long-standing feud between Sonko and Kibe, which started last year when Sonko criticized Kibe for mentioning his name on YouTube and meddling in his personal life.
“I have heard you. I’m not stupid. Keep off my private life. I am a brand to myself. I don’t need to show it off. Stop attacking women,”
“The other day, you were attacking Bahati, a young man trying to earn a living. You attacked Kamene Goro, Millicent Omanga, and Karen Nyamu. What is wrong with you? You are full of gossip,” said Sonko.

Kibe then retaliated by sharing a video where he openly criticized the politician, calling him a loser and advising him to humble himself.
Despite their past differences, Sonko and Kibe appeared to have buried the hatchet during the interview, with Sonko calming down the angry mob and saving him from any harm.
At the start of the live video, Kibe explained that the two had met up by chance and decided to share drinks while chatting about various issues.
