Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria on Wednesday, October 4, left Kenyans guessing after his posts following the cabinet reshuffle announced by the State House.
Taking to his social media account, the CS who was reassigned to the ministry of Public Service in the reshuffle, posted three plain links to Kikuyu gospel songs on his timeline.
In addition, Kuria posted a photo of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua addressing a past meeting without a caption or an accompanying statement too.
In his first post, Kuria embedded a link to a video of a Kikuyu song titled “Mwathani Wakwa Njakaniria Tawa”, whose equivalent translation in English would be “My Lord Light my Lamp”.
The song, released over a decade ago and sung by a man named Murage wa Kigoco is a prayer requesting for light amid darkness.
In addition, the CS posted a link to Elijah Miller’s song titled “Ihida Riakinya”, which is the equivalent of “When the right time comes” in English.
Also among the links embedded on Wednesday was one linking to a song by Paul Waiganjo titled “Ngai wa Mahinda Mothe”, which is translatable to a “God of all times”.

The post sparked reactions on social media with users expressing their mixed reactions. A section of the users commented about Kuria’s profile information amid questions on whether he would change his profile photo with a logo of the Ministry of Investments, Trade & Industry.

The outspoken CS had hit headlines on several occasions for both the good and wrong reasons since his appointment to the cabinet.
In July, Kuria became the subject of a national conversation after United States’ Trade Envoy Katherine Tai refused to meet Moses Kuria in an official assignment visit in Kenya.
Instead, the trade envoy who was in the country to advance a bilateral trade agreement met a team led by CS Rebecca Miano who was at the time serving at the East African Affairs docket.

Whilst Ambassador Katherine Tai declined to disclose the reason, reports indicated that Kuria’s remarks over opposition’s political activities was at the center of the story.
Later in September when President Ruto left for the United Nations General Assembly Summit in the US, Kuria was not part of Kenya’s delegation despite the trade deals lined up for Kenya.
Instead, Ruto tagged former Trade CS and current member of the President’s advisory council Adan Mohamed sparking speculations on Kuria’s longevity in the Trade docket.
