Officials from the Ministry of InvestmentĀ Trade held high-level talks with a business delegation from Indonesia to discuss bilateral engagements.
Speaking during the meeting, Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria announced that the Worldās 23rd most influential woman Pertamina CEO Nickie Widyawati, has promised to invest Ksh400 billion in the Kenyaās energy and oil sectors.
The Trade CS also acknowledged Indonesia’s commitment to partnering with Kenya to foster the country’s development agenda.
“Indonesia has committed to be a long-time partner in the development agenda of our country, and this will be further affirmed next month when the Indonesian president His Excellency Joko Widodo, visits Kenya.” Kuria stated.
Indonesia’s coordinating minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan also attended the meeting.Ā
The meeting between Kenya and Indonesia delegates sought to strengthen bilateral ties and explore investment opportunities between the two countries.
Moreover, the delegation addressed a wide range of business interests and involved people from different sectors such as business executives, and prominent leaders.
Some of the key players present were from Energy, Agriculture and Livestock, Oil and Gas, Edible Oils, Textile and Apparel, Water, Pharmaceuticals, Tourism, Blue Economy, Electrical Vehicles, and Mining Sectors.
Additionally, Kenyaās Export Processing Zone Authority and Indonesiaās textile industry are to set up a factory which will see up to 5000 Kenyans employed.

Some of the partnership areas between the two countries are production of geothermal energy as a measure to reduce the cost of power, electric mobility, blue economy, and mining.
Others include exporting skilled labour, tourism, meat and poultry exports among others.
Indonesian business delegation met CSs Kuria, Davis Chirchir of Energy & Petroleum and Salim Mvurya of Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs.Ā
During the sessions, the delegates explored investment options to foster meaningful partnerships in different sectors.
The KenInvest Managing Director (MD) June Chepkemei also presented several ready and bankable projects that Indonesian companies can take up.

Kenyaās strategic location as the gateway to East Africa and its thriving economy presents an attractive investment destination for Indonesian Businesses.
This visit by the Indonesian business delegation aims to showcase the great potential existing for partnership and investment in various sectors in the country including Kenyaās robust manufacturing Industry, Agricultural Innovation, renewable Energy Projects and Infrastructure Development Initiatives.
