Opposition Leader Raila Odinga has criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua stating that he is not fit for office.
In an interview on KTN, the former prime minister questioned Gachagua’s suitability for the office citing what he called inflammatory remarks.
According to Raila, Gachagua talks with a lot of contempt to the rest of the country and makes rremarks capable of dividing the nation.
“If you ask me, it is a tragedy that this country should have somebody of the caliber of Mr Gachagua as a DP. Mr Gachagua should not even be a head of a chicken pen,” said Raila.
“Other parts of the country do not exist as far as he (Gachagua) is concerned. When he talks to me as we and you, meaning my people and his people yet he is supposed to be the DP of the republic of Kenya,” stated Raila.
Raila on Gachagua’s Shareholder Statement
Additionally, Raila criticized Gachagua for his statement that Kenya is a corporation and a shareholder’s company.
“He (Gachagua) even had the impudence to say that there are some communities with more shares, others with fewer shares and others with no shares at all,” he said.
“He forgets that the same government which he runs, collects taxes from all over the country on a daily basis and then you tell them they are not shareholders, so what are they doing in Kenya,” he said.

Raila’s Advise to Ruto
In addition, the ODM leader asked President William Ruto to censure DP Gachagua for his conduct which he termed an insult to the country.
ADVERT
“When we talk of self-determination, there is a good reason if Mr Gachagua is not censured. I have asked Ruto publicly to censure his deputy,” he said.
“It is an insult when he goes with him to Nyanza, Coast and Western Kenya when he does not recognize those people as shareholders in the government,” he added.
Also, Raila criticized Gachagua for talking about corruption, yet he had a past criminal case which was thrown away.
“This government cannot fight corruption because it itself is a product of corruption,” he said.

Raila on Ruto Nyanza Tour
Raila defended Ruto’s Nyanza tour stating that he is entitled to travel all over the country and launch development projects funded by the national.
However, he said he is against the president trying to use his tours to campaign and market the ruling party UDA.
“The only problem we have with his tours is when he moves around trying to sell his UDA party at the same time because that amounts to campaigning then we are also entitled to campaign,” said Raila.
Further, Raila accused Ruto of leading early campaigns which hinder development projects.
“He is trying to do what he did when he was DP where President Uhuru Kenyatta said he was moving around the country campaigning when the president himself was working for development,” he said.
“Things he (Ruto) promised have not been done, he is just in a constant mood of roaming around the country instead of sitting down and doing some constructive work,” he said.
Also, Raila said the president cannot supervise the whole country advising that he should lay down proper working structures.
