The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued a new directive to motorists over logbooks and number plate collection.
In a statement on Thursday, September 26, the authority indicated that it has thousands of Kenyan number plates and logbooks lying at various offices.
Therefore, NTSA has called on vehicle owners, companies, dealers, and financial institutions to collect the documentation.
Further, motorists and financial institutions have been directed to bring the required documents for collection at the offices they chose during application.
“Thousands of number plates and logbooks remain uncollected across NTSA offices.”
“The Authority directs motor vehicle owners companies, dealers, and financial institutions to collect reflective number plates and logbooks from the centers identified during the application process,” the statement indicated.

Requirements for Collection and Timeline
To collect the number plates, NTSA has indicated that the above-mentioned applicants will need to present their old number plates and identification documents.
On the other hand, to collect a logbook, the applicant will be required to present their previous logbook and an identification document.
Additionally, the authority has noted that motorists can pick up the number plates seven days after application, while logbooks can be collected three days after approval.
On August 3, the Authority asked Kenyans to visit its website to follow the progress of uncollected number plates while clarifying that public access to the portal does not require registration.
For updates on Uncollected Reflective Number Plates, the portal provides information on the location/center where the Smart DL or Number Plate should be collected.
Also, the portal has a platform to escalate concerns relating to Smart DL and Number Plate service applications.
