Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has implored Kenyan Youth studying abroad to remain focused on their studies while in the diaspora.
Speaking on Wednesday, January 23, Sudi decried the recent death of a Kenyan student in Australia noting that the trend of youths dying under mysterious circumstances is alarming.
According to the lawmaker, some cases are often related to drug abuse and opulent lifestyles adopted by Kenyan students abroad.
“I want to urge those of you in the US or Australia and all the other countries stop hurting your parents and community at home,” Sudi stated.
“Stop partying and forgetting where you’ve come fro
m. The current trend is not good at all,” Sudi said while addressing a funeral in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County.
Oscar Sudi explains trend Kenyans in diaspora are adopting
According to the Kapsaret MP, some Kenyan students had developed a trend of trooping with fellow countrymen while in the diaspora and indulging in parties and other fun activities.
He added that a number of children from prominent families have died due to the same reason but are instead covered by their families and described as good children.
“We’ve lost many children from accidents to suicide let us all speak the truth as parents if your child has been indulging in drug abuse say your child died while using drugs,” he added.
“A lot has happened even here in Kenya.”

His remarks came days after two Kenyan students in Australia died after their car crashed into a tree and caught fire.
In a video recorded from the scene, the car burst into flames shortly after the crash to claim the lives of the two young men from Nandi County.

The vehicle was reportedly burnt and defaced completely with only the number plates left for police officers to use as a clue of identifying it.
Australian authorities did not, however, reveal the cause of the accident immediately.
One of them named Kipchumba had travelled to Australia less than five months ago to pursue a Diploma in Business Administration in Perth.

The families of the two students have since expressed their disappointment and shock at the deaths of their two deaths and asked well-wishers to help them repatriate their bodies.
Kenya also had to deal with another devastating case of a death of 23-year-old student who drowned while swimming at a popular swimming spot in Australia.
This was the second case of the nature after yet another incident where a female student from Uasin Gishu died while swimming in Sydney with her friends.
