Police have announced temporary traffic disruptions within Nairobiās Central Business District (CBD), advising motorists to plan and use alternative routes.
In a traffic advisory on April 9, police said the disruptions are intended to support two events taking place within proximity to the Africa Urban Forum at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) and a scheduled address by President William Ruto to the Nairobi County Assembly at City Hall.
“We wish to inform the public of temporary traffic disruptions within the Central Business District (CBD) today, Thursday, April 9, 2026,” read the statement in part.Ā
According to the police, the locations of the two venues have necessitated the establishment of a shared security zone, resulting in the temporary closure of several roads within the CBD.
The affected roads are:

- Sections of Wabera Street adjacent to City Hall
- Supreme Court/Parliament Roundabout
The Kenya Police have deployed traffic officers to manage vehicle movement and guide motorists to alternative routes. Drivers have been urged to cooperate with officers on duty and plan their travel in advance to avoid delays.
