Police in Likoni have revealed the final moments of Hamisi Ibrahim before he was shot dead in Kwadziwe, Likoni,Mombasa on the morning of Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
Geoffrey Ruheni, the Sub-County Police Commander in Likoni, claimed that public complaints had been raised against Hamisi for allegedly being part of a juvenile gang terrorizing students, which led to the deadly confrontation with the police.
“They proceeded towards the officers wielding pangas. The officers had no option but to use their firearms,” the Police Commander explained.
Following the incident, a family in Likoni, Mombasa County, is in mourning after their kin allegedly succumbed to a gunshot wound inflicted by a police officer.
Hamisi Mother recounts moments before his demise in Mombasa
According to Hamisi’s mother, Fatuma Haji, the deceased was shot on the morning of Tuesday, January 7, 2025, when he had gone to visit his friends.
“After finishing tea at my mother’s house, he told me he wanted to visit his friend while the tailor was working on his uniform. Minutes later, we heard gunshots outside. I am feeling deep pain as a parent for losing my son,” Fatuma narrated.

She further recounted that her son was shot in the head, with the bullet also striking his left eye.
Fatuma explained that Hamisi was supposed to join Grade 9 on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
“He was supposed to report to school on Tuesday, January 7, but could not because his uniform was not ready. I decided he would report the following day instead,” she added.
Recent crime activities in Mombasa County
Fatuma dismissed claims that her son was involved in criminal activities, emphasizing that she raised him well and he had not engaged in any wrongdoing.
“My son was not a thief and never displayed bad behavior while he was alive. At times, he hung out with his friends for small social gatherings, but nothing criminal,” Fatuma defended her son.

This incident comes in the wake of increased cases of teenagers being involved in crime in Mombasa County.
Police arrested manchette wielding gang of 8 members who have been terrorizing Bamburi residents. The gang were linked to a series of violent attacks in Bamburi.
In the arrest, police recovered mobile phones, pangas and other stolen items from the scene of arrest.
