Residents of Kaumoni in Ukia Ward in Makueni county were forced to carry the body of Stephen Musyoka on their back for three kilometres due to bad roads.
They accused the local politicians of neglecting the road despite the earlier campaign promise.
A section of Facebook users accused leaders of failing to fulfil their promise to develop roads in the county.
The users said the leaders should be ashamed that the family had to carry the body because of the poor road conditions.
“This is very bad for leaders. Keep promise if you want to be voted again,” said a Facebook user named Dorries Mtour.
Another user, Luckson Dangote, accused leaders of chest-thumping saying “And you can see the leaders proudly showing off how well they have worked.”
Others accused the local Member of County Assembly (MCA) of failing to improve the road.
User, Fortune Chalo, said, “If this person were our MCA, we would have taken the body to him and let him carry it himself.”
Jackson Musa said the issue is affecting the entire country. He said Kenyans will punish the leaders in 2027.
“This is the failure of the regime we have in Kenya and the entire Kaiti constituency. In 2027 we will pay these leaders,” he said.
The users said the leaders should feel ashamed that the family had to carry the body due to bad roads.

User Defends Makueni Leaders
However, another user, Geff Hermilton, disagreed with those criticizing the leaders.
Hermilton argued that people need civic education so that they don’t blame the wrong leadership.
“It seems like by the time the electorate was electing the MCA of that area they failed to be informed the duties of the said leader in the County Assembly,” he said.

He said an MCA has no allocation to perform develop roads.
According to Hermilton, an MCA role includes representation, oversight, making laws and passing bills.
“There’s no need of blaming an MCA for bad roads. This is not his work. His only work there is purely oversight when a contractor has been awarded a tender by the executive to make that road,” he claimed.
