He said that it all started when the victim in the company of his friends arrived at the joint for a reggae show. In addition, Ngugi said that the incident unfolded when he approached the officer who was allegedly urinating on his motorcycle outside the joint to ask him to stop.
Things however turned south when the agitated officer brandished his gun.

“When I went outside, I saw the guy urinating on my motorbike, I approached him and asked why he was urinating on my bike and there was a free space where he could have done that.
He denied that he hadn’t urinated on the bike. I took out my phone’s flashlight and showed him what he had done. He started asking me what I wanted him to do,” explained Ngugi.
“For me, I just wanted to tell him to stop urinating on the bike, but he just took out his gun and shot me.”

His family said that even after reporting the case at the Naivasha Police Station, the suspect is yet to be apprehended.
The family is appealing to the authorities to act with speed in arresting the suspect and arrest the suspect.
“I want the government to look into cases of police brutality, because they are using the power they have wrongly against people who haven’t gone against the law. We have been seeing such cases happen a lot,” said Ngugi.
His mother added, “I feel so sad because the incident involves a police officer who knows about the law. It got me questioning why the officers are allowed to walk with guns inside entertainment joints.”
Naivasha Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Isaac Kiama confirmed that he has received his report and said that his officers are pursuing the matter.
What is however unclear is whether the officer who is accused of shooting Ngugi has been arrested and his gun detained for ballistic examination.
The incident has once again raised concerns of police brutality and trigger-happy security officers.
Two months ago, a Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officer shot a man after a brief altercation in Ongata Rongai before turning the gun on himself.
