Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) says it has arrested a woman in Crimea accused of spying for Ukraine and plotting to poison Russian soldiers.
According to the agency, the woman allegedly collected intelligence on the Russian Black Sea Fleet by photographing military deployments.
Officials said the information was passed to Ukrainian forces and later used in missile strikes against Russian positions.
The FSB further claimed the suspect was preparing to carry out a poisoning attempt against service members stationed in Crimea.
The agency did not disclose how far the plot had progressed or whether any soldiers had been harmed.
The woman, whose identity was not revealed, now faces charges of espionage and attempted murder, crimes that carry a maximum sentence of life imprisonment under Russian law.
Tensions between Moscow and Kyiv have intensified since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, with Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014.
Russia Attacking Kyiv
Images emerged on the morning of September 28 after Russia launched a massive overnight drone and missile attack on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, leaving multiple people dead and residential neighborhoods in ruins.

Drones and missiles rained down on the city and surrounding regions overnight, sending residents scrambling to shelters as anti-aircraft fire lit up the skies.
By Sunday morning, horrifying images of burning buildings and destroyed homes emerged, with officials confirming multiple deaths and dozens injured.
Ukraine has repeatedly targeted military sites on the peninsula with drones and missiles, while Russia has escalated crackdowns on alleged collaborators.
NATO Scrambles Jets
Ukraine’s air force said the overnight assault involved nearly 600 drones and dozens of cruise missiles aimed at seven regions, with Kyiv taking the brunt.
A nurse and a patient were killed when a missile struck the city’s Institute of Cardiology. More than 70 people were injured nationwide.
Ukraine reported that it intercepted 611 aerial targets, including 566 drones, 35 Kh-101 missiles, and eight Kalibr cruise missiles, but falling debris still caused widespread damage.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denounced the strikes as “brutal” and “deliberate terror against cities.”
NATO confirmed it had scrambled fighter jets in response to the attack, showing growing concerns about Russia’s expanding campaign against civilian and critical infrastructure.

The scale and intensity of the assault triggered a swift response from NATO.
In Poland, jets were scrambled and radar systems were placed on the highest alert, with temporary airspace restrictions in effect over the southeastern cities of Lublin and Rzeszów, Politico reported.
Additionally, F-35 jets patrolled the skies until the assault subsided.
However, no direct violations of Polish airspace were reported, but the precaution underscored fears of escalation.
The Newsweek report noted that NATO’s response reflects growing anxiety among allies after repeated drone incursions in Europe.
Estonia, Romania, and Poland have all accused Russia of violating their airspace, while unexplained drone activity over Denmark and Norway disrupted air traffic the past week.
