President William Ruto’s staunch US-based supporter, Cosmas Ombori Monari, also known as Cosmo Choi, has fired back at Royal Media Services (RMS) Editorial Director Linus Kaikai over his choice of questions during the Presidential Roundtable held on Sunday, June 30, at State House Nairobi.
Choi accused Kaikai of asking tough questions during the interview to deliberately embarrass President William Ruto.
“Linus Kaikai, you were there to embarrass, undermine, and make the president look foolish,” Cosmo Choi said.
According to him, Linus behaved as if he were the only journalist, stating that people have children who understand how the media works.
He maintained that Ruto provided proper explanations, especially on the issues raised by the protesting youth.

“What kind of media do you think you are, acting like you’re the only journalist? Our kids are educated and understand how the media operates. You planned to embarrass the president, but Ruto explained himself well. He said the youth were demanding a lot of things, and I also agree with them,” he said.
Gen Z & Githurai Massacre
Additionally, Cosmo Choi supported the issues raised by Gen Z, such as cutting MPs’ salaries, repealing the Constitution to eliminate the Woman Representative post, the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), and unnecessary allowances.
Furthermore, he criticized Linus Kaikai for not going to Githurai with a camera to document incidents as they occurred, if he were a genuine journalist.
“You should have gone to Githurai and shown us those who have died instead of tarnishing Ruto’s name. It’s shameful, undermining and embarrassing the president,” Choi lamented.

Ruto on Lying to Kenyans
During the interview, Linus Kaikai asked President Ruto if he is aware that Kenyans don’t trust and believe in what he says.
“Are you aware that a lot of Kenyans increasingly don’t associate the truth with you?” Kaikai asked.
In response, Ruto said “That is your assessment because you have never associated the truth with me from the beginning. Whether you believe me or not, facts will not change.”
Besides, Kaikai also asked Ruto to comment about the 12-year-old who suffered 8 bullet wounds during protests.
Ruto told the minor’s mother that he would give her an explanation of what really happened and make sure the situation is accounted for.
While responding to deaths and abductions, Ruto said “I have no blood on my hands. 19 people to the record that I have are dead. Very unfortunate, as a democracy that should not be part of our conversation. 2.4 billion of property has been destroyed. Office of the CJ, City Hall and Parliament have been burnt.”

Calling Some Protesters Criminals
Linus Kaikai also pressed the president to explain why he was referring to a section of the protesters as criminals.
President Ruto said criminals took advantage of the protests and caused mayhem harming even the peaceful demonstrators.
“Are you telling me Rex is the one who burnt Parliament? Many of the peaceful protestors lost phones and were attacked by criminals. I feel for Rex and the mother, this should not happen to any child in Kenya especially when they are engaged in a peaceful demonstration,” Ruto said.
