Kimilili Member of Parliament (MP) Didmus Barasa has asked President William Ruto to fire Energy CS Davis Chirchir and his Treasury counterpart Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u forthwith.
Speaking on TV47, on Thursday, December 14, Barasa said the two CSs should be sacked immediately since they have failed to promote confidence and hope in Kenyans amidst the hard economic times.
“To me there are two CSs who should be fired immediately, Davis Chirchir and Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u,” said Barasa.
Further, the MP criticized Chirchir for his comments about the fuel prices in the country.
“If you are in charge of a ministry and you are telling Kenyans that fuel prices can even up to Ksh.300 and you are not sorting it out because it is very difficult then you have a problem,” said Barasa.
Chirchir has Failed-Barasa
Besides, he attacked CS Chirchir for the constant power outages and telling Kenyans to prepare for power rationing.
Barasa slammed Chirchir arguing that the country has not experienced power rationing for a long period time.
“For example, if you tell people to prepare for power rationing, then you are simply telling Kenyans that when the previous regime left the office they left with the water and best engineers in this country,” he said.
Additionally, the MP explained that power rationing happens only when the rivers are running dry and there is no water to run the turbines and generate more electricity.
“Right now, we are having floods that are even destroying our roads, rivers are overflowing then you appear on TV telling Kenyans that they should be prepared for power rationing, are you out of your senses? Asked Barasa.
Barasa Attacks Ndung’u
Also, the MP criticized CS Ndung’u for failing to provide solutions to rebuild the economy.
In addition, Barasa faulted the CS for his comments on the economy which he says scares away possible investors.
“When you are the Treasury CS, and you tell Kenyans that the country is broke then you want to collapse the whole industry.
What will happen is that investors are going to flee this country, the stock market is going to crumble almost to a halt,” said Barasa.
According to Barasa, the CSs should inspire confidence in Kenyans even when the country is at war.
Barasa argues that CSs should appear like they are managing the situation because you are paid to do so.

Speaking after the national blackout on Sunday, December 10, Chirchir stated that the government had put in place measures to solve the problem including building an alternative transmission line in Western Kenya to reduce the over dependence.
CS Chirchir explained that blackouts being witnessed in the country is a result of network overload.
According to the CS, the country had not invested in transmission networks for about 5 years and yet it continued to build the industry.
Therefore, he noted that the demand for power increased causing constraints on the transmission networks available.
