Nairobi County Records Highest Value in Revenue Collection
This comes weeks after Sakaja recorded Ksh12.1 billion in revenue collection, the highest in the city’s history.
“As of 12.30pm, the Nairobi Revenue System recorded the figure, with a few days remaining before the end of the Financial Year 2023/2024. This means that the county could record Ksh13 billion in the ending Financial Year,” Sakaja said in a statement on June 12, 2024.
This achievement surpasses the previous record set by his predecessors, making Sakaja the first governor to record the highest revenue ever witnessed in the city’s history.

Sakaja noted that despite challenges posed by the El Niño floods that disrupted businesses and daily operations, his administration has managed to achieve this feat.
The success was partly attributed to the launch of the Unified Business Permit (UBP), which has made it easier for customers to pay for services.
However, Nairobi County failed to meet its initial set target of Ksh19.9 billion for the Financial Year 2023/2024.
