A dismembered body was found in a latrine at Evojo Primary School in Vihiga County. Deputy Head teacher of Oscar Changilwa confirmed the incident, stating that the teachers and pupils have been highly affected.
Changilwa said the school resumed on May 5, after a break to bury the head teacher.

“We are deeply saddened that such an incident has occurred. We had just resumed school yesterday after burying the head teacher,” Changilwa said.
He stated that teachers and students arrived at exactly 7:00 a.m., and they were already in class, ready for remedial lessons.

One child went to relieve himself and came back to report that he had seen a human head in the latrine.
Changilwa said he rushed to the scene to confirm.

“I poured water into the latrine and saw a human head,” he said.
Teachers and Students Affected
After the shocking discovery, the deputy school head proceeded to inform the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Education, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and the Police.
He revealed that the institution has been affected by the incident since they just buried their headteacher.
Additionally, Changilwa said the institution has since been closed adding that he was not sure if normalcy will resume.

The children and teachers are emotionally devastated. They had just buried their teacher.
“We don’t know if the children will return to school or even if learning will resume normally when they do,” he said.
He condemned the incident, insisting that such things should never happen near a school.
“We have removed the body of the person who was murdered. We strongly condemn such an act and insist that such things should never happen near a school,” he added.

Latrine at Evojo Primary School Destroyed
In a video seen by The Kenya Times, cranes and pumps were seen working at the scene, as locals watched from a distance.
Changilwa said all the latrine have been demolished because of this incident.
He also thanked political leaders and investigative agencies for responding to their calls.
The incident has sparked reactions from Kenyans who question the safety of their children in school.
Police have launched investigations to identify the body and the possible cause of the incident.
