Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna while speaking on Tuesday, October 4 termed the appointment of former Malindi Mp Aisha Jumwa as the CS nominee for Public Service as a big joke.
However, the first-term Senator also admitted that the Kenya Kwanza alliance has a pool of good leaders like the Interior CS nominee Kithure Kindiki.
“There are people in Kenya Kwanza like Kithure Kindiki who are competent for any government position, but Aisha Jumwa is a big joke. She is not competent or suitable for any position,” Sifuna stated.
Moreover, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition Members of Parliament have vowed to be thorough in vetting President Ruto’s cabinet nominees.
In addition, the legislators have criticized a number of those cabinet nominees, raising questions about their eligibility to hold Cabinet Secretary positions.
Senator Edwin Sifuna who is also the ODM Secretary General, further noted that one can be competent for a position but not suitable for it because of integrity issues.
“There are good people in Kenya Kwanza but just by the names he has proposed, it is clear William Ruto wants to run all the ministries because we know the competencies of the people he nominated,” he said.

Nevertheless, Edwin Sifuna and Aisha Jumwa’s rivalry began in 2020 when they had a bad exchange during the Msambweni parliamentary by-election campaigns.
Their exchange at that time had them being summoned by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).
However, Sifuna apologized for his insulting remarks towards Jumwa saying they were unnecessarily graphic, and that he did not intend to advocate for sexual violence.
In addition to the apology, Sifuna, who is also a lawyer, offered to undertake 50 hours of probono legal services to victims of gender-based violence in 2021.
Furthermore, NCIC also accused Jumwa of making the same reckless remarks while responding to Sifuna.
Nonetheless, NCIC noted then, that the remarks by the two leaders could affect the harmonious coexistence between the communities living in Kwale.
