Several people are feared trapped following the collapse of a building in Nairobi. According to The Kenya Red Cross reports on March 16, the building has collapsed in the Blue Estate area of Shauri Moyo, next to structures that were being demolished on riparian land.
Reportedly, an unconfirmed number of people are feared trapped under the rubble as emergency responders conduct rescue operations at the scene.
“A building has collapsed in the Blue Estate area of Shauri Moyo, adjacent to structures that were being demolished on riparian land. An unconfirmed number of people are feared trapped in the rubble. Rescue efforts are underway,” Kenya Red Cross confirmed in a statement.
At the time of reporting, no further details had been revealed as authorities said updates will follow as the situation develops.
Two Rescued from Shauri Moyo Building Collapse, Six Still Missing
According to initial reports, 10 people were inside the building at the time of the collapse. It was reported that two individuals managed to escape by jumping out.
The Kenya Red Cross stated that two people had been rescued and taken to Kenyatta National Hospital for medical attention, while six others remained unaccounted for.

RCAT volunteers reportedly provided first aid at the scene as search and rescue operations continued.

Building Collapses in Nairobi CBD
Another building collapsed in the Nairobi Central (CBD) Building on February 11, as confirmed by the Kenya Red Cross Society.
The incident occurred near OTC along Kirinyaga Road in Nairobi County, involving a structure within the busy Central Business District. The cause of the collapse was not immediately established.
“A building collapse has been reported near OTC along Kirinyaga Road, Nairobi County,” the Kenya Red Cross reported.
The Red Cross Society confirmed that response teams were en route to the scene following the incident, and no further reports have been made so far.
“Response teams are en route,” they noted.
