New details have emerged about the police officer who shot mask hawker, Boniface Mwangi Kariuki, during the protests by youth calling for the resignation of Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat.
Speaking to Citizen TV, a patient nursing gunshot wounds at the Kenyatta National Hospital said the police officer who shot the mask vendor is the same officer who allegedly shot him eight times.
According to Samuel Omondi Okoth, doctors have successfully removed seven bullets from his body, but one bullet remains lodged in his spine. The medical team is concerned that removing this bullet could cause damage to his spine.
“One bullet is still stuck in my spine, and they were afraid to interfere with it. The doctor managed to remove seven bullets,” said Samuel.
Protester Says Police Shot Him Eight Times After Boniface Mwangi Incident
Samuel recounted that he was shot after approaching the police officer who had shot Boniface Mwangi. His only mistake was asking the police officer why he had done so, explaining that Boniface had done nothing to deserve being shot.
“I confronted the officer who came out from behind the car, and we met face to face. After this man had been shot, I wanted to ask him why they are killing innocent people,” Omondi shared about his ordeal with the police officer.
