Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has been fronted for the conferment of National Honors 2024 again after missing out on the final list in 2023.
The parliamentary honors advisory committee has proposed Sifuna for the Chief of Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) award, issued by the head of state.
In a notice on Tuesday, October 1, parliament has invited members of the public to give their views on the nominated MPs.
Kenyans have been urged to submit their opinions to the joint secretariat of the Parliamentary Honours Advisory Committee by Monday, October 7.
If he makes it to the final list this time, Sifuna will be presented with the award by President William Ruto on Jamhuri Day, December 12.

Other Kenyans Nominated Alongside Sifuna
Also on the list is the member of the parliamentary Service Commission Johnson Muthama, who has been fronted for the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart award (MGH).
Additionally, Suna MP and Leader of Minority in the National Assembly Junet Sheikh Nuh has been nominated for the Elder of the Order of Golden Heart (EGH) award.
Nyali MP Mohamed Mohamed Ali, also known as Moha Jicho Pevu has been fronted for the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart award (MGH), while Molo Mp Kimani Kuria has been nominated for the Chief of Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) award.
At the same time, Bumula MP Jack Wamboka has been named for the Chief of Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) award, alongside Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osostsi, Kiambu Senator Karungo Thangwa and Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang.
Individuals are nominated for awards by district committees, government ministries, religious organizations, non-governmental organizations, individuals and others.
Moreover, the National Honours Act 2013 provides that a person shall merit the conferment of a national honor if that person “has made an exemplary contribution to the country or a county in the economic, social, scientific, academic, public administration, governance, sports, journalism, business, security or other fields”, or when he “has otherwise brought honour, glory or pride to the Republic.

Details of the Awards Issued by the President
Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya is the highest category of presidential awards which is further divided into three categories.
There is the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (C.G.H.), Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (E.G.H.) and the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (M.G.H.).
Moreover, the Order of the Golden Heart award is followed by Uhodari Medal.
The next level of awards is the Order of the Burning Spear, which is also divided into three classes.
They include the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (C.B.S.), Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (E.B.S.) and the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (M.B.S.).
Other awards given by the president include the Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya, The Distinguished Conduct Order, The Distinguished Service Medal.
The head of state also confers the Silver Star of Kenya, and the Head of State’s Commendation-military division and civilian division awards.
