Former NTV journalist and primetime news anchor Smriti Vidyarthi has embarked on a new role in her career, months after quitting Nation Media Group – NMG.
She has joined The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in Africa as Executive Communications Officer following a competitive recruitment process.
Vidyarthi, best known for her 16-year tenure at Nation Media Group’s NTV, where she served as a senior news anchor and multimedia content producer.
“I am delighted to introduce Smriti Vidyarthi, who has joined The Nature Conservancy in Africa as our Executive Communications Officer,” said Ademola Ajagbe, Regional Managing Director for Africa at TNC.
“Smriti brings a wealth of experience in journalism, editorial leadership, multimedia content production, and strategic communications,” he added.
Smriti Vidyarthi Career in Media
Vidyarthi’s signature work includes hosting and co-producing NTV Wild Talk, a conservation television program that spotlighted Kenya’s wildlife, natural spaces, and the urgent challenges surrounding environmental protection.
The show earned industry accolades, including the best Television production award at both the 2024 and 2025 Media Council of Kenya annual journalism excellence awards.

In a video message marking the transition, Vidyarthi said, “You may remember me from NTV, specifically NTV Wild Talk, an award-winning TV show that I hosted and co-produced. Now, I’m turning the mic and the lens to nature.”
New Role
As Executive Communications Officer, Vidyarthi will lead storytelling and strategic outreach for TNC across Africa, helping advance its mission to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends.
“TNC offers a powerful platform for change,” she said. “I can’t wait to tell our stories as we conserve our precious landscapes and oceans for people and nature.”
Her appointment is being celebrated as a natural continuation of her passion for the environment, bridging journalism and conservation advocacy.

Exiting NTV After 16 Years
Smriti Vidyarthi announced her exit from NMG following a stint spanning over 16 years.
She took to her social media just before her prime-time news bulletin on Monday, February 10, to express gratitude to NMG and Kenyans for trusting in her and supporting her.
“Sixteen and a half years of service to the Nation Media Group and the nation. Thank you for trusting me. For now, tune in tonight at 9 pm for my last bulletin on NTV,” she wrote.
During here farewell bulletin, she was deeply moved and couldn’t hold back her tears as NTV crew celebrated her.
