Popular sports journalist Eric Njiru has announced his departure from Homeboyz Radio.
In a statement on July 22, 2025, Eric Njiru reflected on his time at the station, noting that he covered 425 weekends, witnessed 9 trophies, worked under 3 managers, and engaged with fans through millions of tweets.
“As we gear up for another dramatic football season, I have some news,” Njiru said.
“My incredible run at Homeboyz Radio came to a close at the end of last season. Lived it, loved it.”
Njiru’s Fans React to His Departure
Following the announcement, his fans wished him well, with many expressing curiosities about his next move.
Fellow sports Journalist Lotan Salapei took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his congratulatory message to the sports journalist.
“It was such a huge honour! All the best in your next adventure!! Bless up!” he posted.
On his part, X user Manoti posted, “All the best in your future endeavours.”
“You will never walk alone. Forever,” posted X user @Ngugi_Gitauu, showing his support for Njiru.
“Senior, it has been fun and a joy — full of banter, analysis, and score predictions. Good luck in your next chapter,” posted X user @muduabdull.

Eric Njiru Career Background.
Before announcing his exit, Eric Njiru had been working as a sports journalist at Radio Africa Group since 2019. He also served as a football presenter and reporter at Homeboyz Radio from 2015.
Since May 2023, Njiru has held the position of Vice President at the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK).
In addition, he has been the Chief Rugby Writer at RagaHouse.com — East Africa’s leading rugby-focused website — since September 2015.
Njiru had previously worked as a sports sub-editor at Royal Media Services.

Educational Background
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Multimedia University of Kenya, where he studied from 2013 to 2016.
During his time there, he was an active member of various student organizations, including the Journalism Club, Drama Club, Presidents Award Club, This Generation Gospel Movement, Peace in Campus and Love Movement, and AISECS International.
He later joined Moi University in 2016, where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in information sciences (IT) until 2018.
While at Moi University, he was involved in both the IT Club and Journalism-related activities, reflecting his continued interest in both technology and media.
