State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed has been implicated in a case of abduction by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nairobi.
Businessman Alinur Mohamed narrated a two-day ordeal with the officers after a forceful arrest claiming the spokesperson was at the centre of it all.
Alinur explained that he was allegedly abducted on July 17 by five masked men, at noon while leaving his Gigiri office.
He said that the men took his car keys, passport, business documents and Ksh456,000 that he had on him at the time. They then forced him into the back of the car and drove away.
“They drove me around Nairobi for over four hours. My car ran out of fuel. They used some of the money they found in my car to pay for more fuel and kept the rest of the money which is still missing,” he stated.

Ruto’s Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed Implicated
Additionally, Alinur said that while he was being driven around, the men commanded him to delete all information he had posted online about the spokesperson, hitting him continuously when he refused to obey.
“Along the way they ordered me to unlock my phone & delete all my social media accounts. I refused. One of them slapped me. They demanded I delete tweets that mentioned Hussein Mohamed, Ruto’s Spokesman.
“I refused to delete the tweets making them to shower me with countless slaps. We headed to DCI HQ along Kiambu Road, but just before entering, they abruptly turned around,” he added.
The businessman was then taken to Nairobi Area Police Headquarters and handed over to the DCI team where he was questioned.
“They later told me I was arrested because of a complaint from Hussein Mohamed. They took my fingerprints and locked me in a holding room for hours.
“My lawyers were denied access. I was not given any food, even though I was fasting. I requested for my phones, which had been illegally confiscated, but they refused,” he added.

Cash bail and Charge Sheet
Although his wife was allowed to see him, Alinur said that it was permitted after he was moved to Kamukunji Police Station and denied bail.
“They allowed my wife and lawyers to see me but still refused cash bail, despite Article 49(1)(h) entitling every arrested person to it.
“I was unlawfully detained all night long in Kamukunji. Kamukunji police station officers said they were under orders not to release me on bail,”
After spending the night in the holding cells, he said that he was transferred to Milimani Law Courts Holding Police Station where he was later taken to court and released on a Ksh30,000 cash bail at 2:30 p.m.
