The driver of a bus attached to Super Metro Company Limited captured on video breaking traffic rules along Thika Road has been arrested.
This was confirmed by the company’s management through a statement shared on the official Super Metro Facebook account on Monday 4 March 2024,
Super Metro confirmed that the company’s management worked with police officers to arrest the driver.
“Following today’s incident of one of our drivers on Thika Road, we would like to inform the public that the driver has been apprehended by our company Inspectors following his misconduct of making a U-turn on the Thika Superhighway endangering other road users,” the statement read in part.
He further revealed that the driver was taken to Central Police Station in Nairobi where he is awaiting to been arraigned in court.

“He was submitted to Central Police Station then later picked by Pangani Police where the incident was reported and from there, he will be arraigned in court. Thank you for your continued support,” he added.
Super Metro Breaks Traffic Rules
A video of a Super Metro minibus daringly making a U-turn on the wrong side onto the highway in broad daylight sparked a lot of discussion online with Kenyans calling on authorities to take action.
In the video, a driver in a black car is also visible trying to maneuver around the minibus which later drives off still towards the wrong direction.

There was a significant traffic jam on the opposite side of the roadway possibly suggesting that the minibus driver was trying to outpace other vehicles.
While reacting on the video one X user commented bashing Roads and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen over his remarks that poor roads don’t have any accidents.
“Instead of taking charge and order for the arrest our flashy CS of roads want to make it a muddy road to reduce accidents and these behavior Kenyans who bewitched us,” Arnold Matasi wrote.
Another use expressed worry on how the brand of the matatu company was soiled by this unroadworthy act. He said “I thought super Metro was a well-managed bus until I saw this. Then when the accident occurs, the public will be quick to blame KENHA.”
