The United Republic of Tanzania has sent a delegation to Kenya for the National Prayer Breakfast. Majority Party Whip and South Mugirango Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Silvanus Osoro said Tanzania sent a delegation to be part of the choir that was performing during the event.
Osoro said the delegation consisted of a former Prime Minister Frederick Tluway Sumaye, MPs and other leaders.
He revealed that the team from Tanzania trained with the Parliament choir on the night of Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
Osoro mentioned that the Tanzanian leaders learnt a few lines of the song “Bwana ni Mchungaji ni Wangu”.
He stated that the training was conducted after the international guests, which was attended by guests from Tanzania, Uganda and other countries.
“Yesterday, when we were having dinner for the international guests, we were privileged to be joined by the MPs and a huge delegation from Tanzania and Uganda,” Osoro said.
“I am very specific about Tanzania because when we walked out, we practised with them the songs that we were going to sing in two lines at around 10:30 pm.”

He proceeded to welcome the Tanzanian leaders to join the National Assembly choir on the podium.
Osoro jokingly stated that Ugandans will also join the choir after they finish performing alongside those from Tanzania.
“Allow me, with tremendous respect, to join us on this stage for the Swahili that we are going to sing. Don’t mind Uganda’s time will come, we are now inviting Tanzanians,” he said.

“We are singing a very common song, like we agreed yesterday. The song was ‘Bwana ni Mchungaji ni Wangu’”
Earlier, Osoro had asked the members of the Bunge Fellowship to the podium for a singing session.
He directed the other MPs who are part of the Fellowship team to join the podium as the rest rise up for prayers.
“Those walking to the podium are members of the Bunge Fellowship. After here, we will have the entire Parliament come and join us in singing. We are going to sing a very common chorus, and at some point, we are going to rise and praise God,” he said.

Suluhu Deports Kenyan Activists
This comes amidst tension between Kenya and Tanzania after detention and subsequent deportation of political leaders and activists from Kenya.
Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu accused the leaders of attempting to disrupt the peace in Tanzania.
She stated that the leaders had failed to bring change in Kenya and were on a mission to interfere in Tanzania’s affairs.
“We’ve started seeing a trend where some activists from our neighbouring countries are trying to meddle in our business,” Suluhu said.
“If they have been contained in their own country, let them not try to come to ruin our peace.”
