Major party changes have been proposed by the Usawa Kwa Wote Party (USAWA), The Democratic Union (TDU), Party for Peace and Development (PPD) and Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG), according to notices published by the Registrar of Political Parties in the latest edition of the Kenya Gazette.

The party changes affect leadership positions, constitutions, headquarters, symbols, slogans and official colours across the four political parties.

TDU Changes Slogan, Symbol And Colours

The Democratic Union (TDU) has proposed changing its headquarters from Victoria Plaza, Parklands Road, 5th Floor, Nairobi, to Gigiri Whispers Avenue, Building No. 161, Nairobi.

PPD also wants to replace its current symbol, a House, with a Unity Kite.

The party also wants to change its slogan from “Mwanzo Mpya” to “Our People, Our Purpose, Our Power.”

For Usawa Kwa Wote Party (USAWA), the proposed amendment concerns a change of headquarters.

The party seeks to move its registered offices from Muthaiga Suites to Muiri Lane opposite Bomas of Kenya Main Entrance in Karen.

PPD, MDG Propose Leadership Changes

The Party for Peace and Development (PPD) has published a wider list of proposed amendments touching on party leadership, constitution and identity.

According to the notice, the party intends to amend its constitution and relocate its headquarters from Muthaiga Flat, Thika Road, to House No. 54, Roasters, Mukima Drive, off Thika Road, Nairobi.

The party also seeks to replace its current Triangle symbol with a Jug.

It proposes changing its official colours from Red, White, Green and Black to Orange, Sky Blue and White.

The notice further contains changes to several party positions.

The position of Women League National Chairperson is proposed to move from Florence Wangui to Phylis Kambita.

PPD’s Women League Deputy National Chairperson in charge of Operations is proposed to change from Faith Mbogo to Judith Kwamboka.

Women League Deputy National Chairperson in charge of Strategy is set to change from Dahabbo Darro to Trizza Kithitho.

The Women League Deputy National Chairperson in charge of Programs is proposed to change from Jedidah Mwiti to Eddah Kanyungu.

The Secretary for Devolution and County Governments position is proposed to move from Elijah Wambugu to Brian Ooga.

National Chairperson in Charge of Diaspora is proposed to change from Benard Kavyu Omari to Samwel.

The Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) has also proposed amendments to its constitution and officials.

Under the notice, Monica Apio Mung’ala is listed as National Chairperson, Hillary Adolwa as Deputy National Chairperson, Julius Ouma Jwan as Secretary General, Angelyne Asiko Alukwe as National Treasurer and George Odhiambo Okello as Deputy National Treasurer.

The party’s proposed officials also include Benson Makokha Mapwoni as National Organising Secretary, Geit Avonua Amahawa as National Women’s League Leader and Ruth Anyango Bolo as Chairperson of the National Youth League.

Party Changes Gather Pace Ahead of Key Political Deadlines

The party changes come as political parties race to meet key election-preparedness deadlines set by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

Parties must submit certified nomination rules to the IEBC by November 6, 2026, before forwarding party membership lists to the registrar between March 16 and March 23, 2027.

Parties must then submit certified membership registers to the IEBC by April 12, 2027.

The timelines form part of preparations for the August 10, 2027 General Election and fall within a period when parties are expected to ensure their leadership structures, governing documents and registration records are in order.
