US President Donald Trump is reportedly considering pardoning Indian billionaire Gautam Adani.
According to Bloomberg, this development follows a meeting between his representatives and officials from Trump’s administration, where they sought to have criminal charges dismissed in connection with an overseas bribery investigation.
Adani’s representatives are saying that his prosecution does not match Trump’s priorities and should be reviewed, according to Bloomberg News.
It is reported that discussions began earlier in 2025 and have continued in recent weeks, with a resolution potentially emerging within the next month.
Trump to Pardon Indian Billionaire Gautam Adani
However, Adani Green Energy Limited stated, in a press release on Monday, April 5 2025, that it is not involved in any proceedings but did not directly address the reports regarding the meetings.
The company further stated that a recent review of the indictment did not uncover any signs of non-compliance or wrongdoing.

The consideration of dismissing criminal charges against the Adani Group comes months after Gautam Adani and his nephew, Sagar Adani, were indicted by U.S. authorities for allegedly paying bribes to secure power supply contracts.
These allegations involved over $250 million paid in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy contracts. They were also accused of misleading U.S. investors during fundraising activities for Adani Green Energy.
In response to the bribery allegations against Gautam and Sagar Adani, Kenya cancelled several significant deals with the Adani Group.
President Ruto Cancels Adani Deals
On November 21, 2024, President William Ruto announced the cancellation of a $2 billion contract for the expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and a $736 million (Ksh 95.1 Billion) public-private partnership for constructing power transmission lines.
President Ruto and other senior government officials initially supported these deals but opted to terminate them following the indictment.

During his State of the Nation address on November 21, 2024, President Ruto expressed his commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.
“I have stated in the past, and I reiterate today, that in the face of undisputed evidence or credible information on corruption, I will not hesitate to take decisive action,” President Ruto stated.
However, the Adani Group denied the allegations and stated they would seek all possible legal recourse.
