Iran Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s military adviser and former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Mohsen Rezaee, has stated that United States President Donald Trump should be ousted, hours after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth removed the Army’s top general.
Hegseth removed Gen. Randy George on Thursday, April 2, the latest senior military leader pushed out in a Pentagon shake-up that has seen a purge of top ranks under the Trump administration.
The Pentagon announced Gen. Randy George’s departure, providing no reason for his removal as the U.S. military builds up its forces in the Middle East while carrying out operations against Iran.
The Army chief of staff normally serves for 4 years, and George, who gave no indication he was preparing to retire, assumed his post in September 2023.
Rezaee, responding to the Pentagon shake‑up and President Trump’s assertions that Iran’s air force was “in ruins” and its ability to launch missiles and drones “dramatically curtailed,” said military commanders should not be dismissed but rather that Trump himself should be removed.
Khamenei Adviser Calls for Trump’s Removal as He Warns Surprises Are Far From Over
He said the conflict would continue until Iran’s conditions, including compensation for war damages, the lifting of sanctions, and guarantees against U.S. interference, were met.
“They claimed Iran’s air defense systems had been eliminated, another familiar falsehood. Perhaps, rather than dismissing military commanders, it is Trump himself who should be ousted,” Rezaee said in a statement.
“We have spent years preparing for this confrontation, and the surprises are far from over.”

President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth have repeatedly said Iran’s capabilities were decimated — including its anti-aircraft defenses, which were taken out by American forces.
“We could hit it, and it would be gone, and there’s not a thing they could do about it. They have no anti-aircraft equipment. Their radar is 100% annihilated. We are unstoppable as a military force,” Trump said on Wednesday, in his first primetime address to the American people since the start of the war.
“Never in the history of warfare has an enemy suffered such clear and devastating, large-scale losses in a matter of weeks.”

Rezaee Warns U.S. Iran Will Keep Strait of Hormuz Closed, Threatens ‘Paralysis’ if Attacked
Mohsen Rezaee has been vocal about keeping the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz closed and preventing U.S. warships from entering the Persian Gulf.
According to him, the presence of U.S. forces in the Persian Gulf has been the main factor behind insecurity in the region for the past 50 years.
“It is impossible to ensure security there unless the United States withdraws from the region, and regional countries, particularly Iran and Oman, take control of the Strait of Hormuz,” he said at a past interview.
He said that if the US attacks the energy infrastructure of Iran, Tehran’s response would no longer be an eye for an eye, but rather a head for an eye.
Rezaee threatened to “paralyze” the United States and “drown” its ships in the Arabian Gulf.
Meanwhile, Iran has reportedly turned down every key U.S. demand for ending the month-long conflict, according to officials involved in the talks.
Pakistani mediators confirmed on Friday, April 3, that Tehran had labeled the American proposals unacceptable and refused to meet with U.S. officials in Islamabad.
The rejection leaves the Pakistan-led ceasefire push in ruins just days before President Donald Trump’s April 6 deadline on the Strait of Hormuz.
