The Moja Expressway company has dispelled reports claiming that a section of the Expressway has developed cracks.
In a statement, the company flagged a post circulating on social media with purported advice for motorists as fake.
The post, branded in colors similar to those used by a local media outlet, had alleged that Moja Expressway asked motorists to seek alternative ways after the cracks.
Kenya’s highway agency, the Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) also weighed in to affirm that the post was fake.
The source of the post was however not established by the time of this publication.
Reports emerged on the back of several warning alerts to motorists using carious roads across the country.
Expressway intact despite Floods
Since the onset of the enhanced rains in the country, Kenyan roads have borne the brunt of the ravaging floods with several already damaged to the point of being rendered impassible.
Highways in the Northeastern region, for example were among the most affected with roads.

The rains also washed away sections of roads in Kenya’s coastal region including the Mtwapa – Kilifi Road which was cut off at the Mbogolo bridge.
However, KeNHA in collaboration with other state agencies moved to restore the roads hours later much to the relief of stranded motorists.
In a statement on Tuesday, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen said that his Ministry was alive to the situation facing roads in parts of the country in the ongoing rains.

Murkomen assured that plans were in place to help restore the affected areas to return normalcy after visiting the Mbogolo Bridge site.
“The Ministry is on high alert and monitoring cases of flooding with an interest to ensuring speedy restoration of damaged roads and a return to normal transportation in affected areas,” the Transport CS stated.
In addition, the Transport CS urged drivers to exercise caution, warning that those found crossing dangerous areas would be punished.
The road cracks represent just a fraction of the challenges posed by the ongoing heavy rains that have hit the country for over two months now.
