An image of a strange creature thought to be an alien running along a road at night has been circulating on social media in the past few days.
The creature, white in color, and with limbs resembling those of a human being has raised eyebrows among some Kenyans who could not help but wonder about its nature, origin, and the exact location it was seen.
In a post that has since garnered over 3,000 likes and 939 comments, a Facebook group named Cops Kenya shared the images that appeared as a screenshot from a clip captured by a road user and claimed that investigations were underway to ascertain its nature.
Kenyans on the comment sections went on to share their opinions on the image seen by many as an alien.
A user named Dominic Koech in his comment to the Facebook post said, “Inafukuza watu na inaua walevi kama bado uko sherehe jipange”- which is translated to “It is hunting down drunk people so if you are still partying be careful”.
Some even claimed that a driver had recorded the creature running while driving at night.
The comments kept streaming, manifesting the anxiety the image and imagination of an alien casually roaming in Kenya had caused.
Origin of the Alien Images
However, a google reverse image search by The Kenya Times showed various matches of the said images, with some dating back from as early as six months ago.
Related to the image is a legendary tale known as the Fresno Nightcrawler, with its origin traced back to 2007 in California, United States.
A story is told of how a resident of Fresnan discovered white figures in surveillance footage obtained from a camera in his home.
Several other sightings of the white creatures have been claimed in the area and subsequently sparked discussions of what exactly they are.

But in the era of digital technology, creatives across the world have moved to create their versions of the ‘alien’ creatures using various software and tools.
In one of the results from our search, an X user named Eduardo Valdes from Spain who describes himself as an artist shared the image of the creatures on January 4, 2024.
“This caked up Fresno Nightcrawler is my attempt to balance things after yesterday’s evil body horror post,” he posted a caption to images of the white mysterious creatures.

Valdes has in the recent past shared posts of several such images, some of which end up creating impressions of the existence of creatures including mermaids and aliens.

He is a digital artist from Spain and has confessed his passion about myths and tales since his childhood.
To satisfy his curiosity and passion for the myths, Valdes creates images inspired by the cryptids, mermaids, like the Fresno Nightcrawler.
But the excitement around the possibility of seeing an alien is not limited to Kenyans. Around the world, various theories have been advanced to show the possibility of existing aliens.
Some scientists have in the past suggested that there is a high probability of aliens in some part of the universe, arguing that humans are yet to discover all planets and the inhabitants living there.
